Impressed with Ikea!

Preparing for the wedding had taken a physical and emotional toll on everyone. Some chose to be minimally responsive while others endeavoured to direct people on how to make things work (but don't do much to contribute) and there were the workers (cut the shit and just do it).

With the recent termite attack, we needed to get a new wardrobe for L. So after looking through the Ikea catalogue, L agreed on one of the suggestions. About a week before the big day, mum and I went to Ikea after work to buy the chosen wardrobe. Little did we know that the Brusali wardrobe came in 4 boxes which were so heavy and long (n.b. this was our first time buying furniture from Ikea).

Being Thankful: Day 14

I'm thankful for:

1. Fellowship with friends.
2. Meeting two babies!
3. Discovering the yumminess of ramen.
4. Late night ice cream with mom.

Being Thankful: Day 13

I'm thankful for:

1. Safe journey, although there were many psychotic drivers on Karak today.
2. The adventure of driving in pitch dark narrow winding road through the jungle.
3. Fellowship with family.
4. The cool weather in the hills.
5. Enjoying blessings from others.
6. The adventure of driving without GPS and following signboards, missing turn-offs and entering a few different highways to finally reach our destination.

Being Thankful: Day 12

I'm thankful for:

1. Another day of fellowship with family.
2. Getting into the Lunar New Year mood.
3. The food! *Chinese gluttony*

I'm thankful for:

1. Having the opportunity to go home early (but we ended up staying 4 hours beyond).
2. Fellowship with family.
3. Wonderful traffic! Seriously awesome!
4. Photoshop :)

Enabling Hardware Virtualisation on Windows 8.1

Yesterday this noob finally got down to setting up the CS50 Appliance to work on VMware. As always, my machine "so happened" was unable to install and immediately start running the two applications. I had to verify whether 'Hardware Virtualisation' was turned on in my system. After downloading the Microsoft Hardware-Assisted Virtualisation Detection Tool as recommended, I found out that the .exe did not support Windows 8! Arghhh!

Being Thankful: Day 10

Today has been a fun day. I'm thankful for:-

1. Finally getting the CS50 Appliance to work through VMware. How to enable hardware virtualisation warrants another separate post.
2. The many redemptions I had today.
3. Making my first announcement to Bursa this evening. So happens all those in charge are away and immediate announcement was required.

Being Thankful: Day 9

I am thankful for:-

1. The workload traffic which was pretty laxed today.
2. The postage fees for my cards were much lower than I'd expected.
3. The opportunity to learn how to make an announcement to Bursa using our system (in case there is a need for immediate announcement during the CNY period).
4. The opportunity to reflect on my job situation while writing a letter - made me feel thankful for the extraordinary opportunities given.
5. Finally having the time and mood to submit my pset0 assignment in.

Being Thankful: Day 8

I'm thankful for:-

1. A sarcastic mind which keeps me sane in heavy traffic surrounded by a couple of idiots.
2. Not burning my bridges - this may turn out to be interesting, or not. Reminder to self, courting temptation is never a safe option. Ah, that one-year itch keeps resurfacing!
3. Glue stick! Less mess and ripples on the paper. Awesome
