Wuthering heights

is wuthering heights pronounced as "woo-thering heights" or "wuh-thering heights" or like "weathering heights"? anyway, i finished reading it about a week ago and conclusion is... i don't like emily bronte's style of writing! she's so morbid... i can still remember that poem we had to study for literature in secondary school... the one with the death in the neighbours' house...

i've heard some accounts that heathcliffe is such a desirable hero... but to me, he's just a psychotic saddist!!! he takes pleasure in torturing and ruining innocent people's lives!!! what an a** hole!!! only the ending was nice... when heathcliffe died!!! see, the book has turned me into a saddist too...

i've found out recently that the stpm results are coming out in mid-march... this is such a let down because i've been preparing my mind in accepting the fact that my results are most probably going to suck... and now i've to do that more fervently for another half month!!! and how am i to meet the datelines of some applications? well, i'll have to pray earnestly for everything to turn out favourably... Lord, please help me!!!

chinese new year!

cny eve: did some cleaning... lots of dust... then ran around subang parade trying to get hold of a decent yee sang... unsuccessful... ended up going to tai thong ss2 to get the salmon yee sang... waited awhile and the yee sang costed rm69! when reached uncle's house in bangsar... couldn't recognise cousins from penang... kids grow so much! dinner was a bit cramped and a little confusing... didn't eat much... got to pat 3 fluffy dogs and in the process accumulate dust bunnies (or rather, dog fur balls) on garments... watched "50 first dates" on dvd... quite funny... went back and ate instant noodles...

cny 1st day: woke up remembering a dream that went something like this...

as dreams always do... the setting kept changing... from a petrol station convenient store to some government office waiting space... like the place where we do our passport... and i met this girl with glasses there and we were kinda arguing (verbally and calmly) something about the waiting numbers we took (the ones you take when waiting your turn at banks and government offices)... next thing, we were seated and there was another guy near us and this is the conversation that took place...
girl: what are you doing now?
me: i've just finished form 6... waiting for results... you?
girl: yala... about the same la... a-levels...
(a pause ensues and she's facing the guy and was saying something to him when i started asking her a question)
me: what are you planning to study next?
(she doesn't hear me but apparently is asking the guy the same question... after awhile she turns to me...)
girl: you leh?
me: huh? what?
girl: what are you going to study?
me: i think chemical engineering...
girl: huh? that lousy course ah?
(she said that unfeelingly and i know i was getting annoyed but then i woke up!...)

i don't know does that dream mean anything or i'm just thinking about the matter too much... anyway got ready to go to uncle's house... i wore a black top with a pink flower embroidered into it, a black jeans skirt, my new embroidered metallic red slippers and my diamond butterfly pendant... wished elders "happy new year", ate vegetarian noodles and collected ang paus... then the whole party went to another house in bangsar (i've always liked the situation of this house... on a hill, at the dead end of a road, nice view from balcony...)... greeted more people, collected ang paus and had more vegetarian food (the achar and linguine was nice...)... had a very brief conversation with my grand-aunt (brief mainly because of my very limited command of cantonese... luckily i can count in chinese!!! came in handy when she asked my cousin and i, our ages...) from what i could understand, she asked me what i was doing and whether i can draw and told me that my dad was very talented at art since he was a little boy... after that our party took off and landed in yet another distant-uncle's house in jln travers... had chocolates, cookies, and roasted pig there... tried a bit of LK's wine... it's confirmed that i don't like alcoholic drinks... as usual, did alot of sit and wait and make small talk with cousins when any idea sprang to mind... night time: went to giant SA to have a drink... a had malibu dreams... and buy some stuff... got abit mad when mom was so fickle about dinner... watched "lost in translation" on astro... so funny and a little depressing!!!

cny 2nd day: mom cooked deep-fried battered prawns... went to another uncle's apartment... had 2 yee sangs to toss... met most of my married cousins... kids were all playing computer games and ps2 - what a bore... they played the athens olympics game and a weird japanese drum game where the drums can race down hills, eat sweet potato and have a flying fart competition, bells stealing some pau and catching some buns on plates etc. ... crowd dwindled off until 2 families were left... watched "shrek 2" on dvd... really funny... played with zack the pinscher... weird but cute dog... he peed on my cousin... hahaha... this hyper dog became docile after having a nap... we stayed for dinner... LK and i did alot of sitting and waiting... went back and immediately went to bed...

pajamas in pyramid

4th february 2005 - a couple of hyperactive-chatterboxers (to be exact: me, ooi, nisha, becca & kharlal) met up in pyramid for some shopping and dinner. we ate fish and all of us tried eating mussels in cheesy sauce... as a result, 3 out of 5 of us will not be eating that in the near future!!! kharlal bought some really really cute clothes... i hope we'll see her in them next saturday... after walking kharlal to her car, we commenced to sunway hotel for our slumber party.

we were expecting about 6 people but only 5 were able to come (wendy was sick...)... so we watched tv while awaiting the arrival of everyone... actually we did lots of watching tv cause there wasn't anything worthwhile to watch in the cinema... poor us!!!so we ended up watching "sleepless in seattle"(what a lovely chic flick) together (while munching on cheesels)... all in all we managed to catch snatches of "dogs & cats", "maid in manhattan", "swept away" (old witch, bad acting), "mickey blue eyes" (love those crisp shirts...), etc. (i can't recall if there were any more...

our party was about to crash cause some of us were nodding off when suddenly (at around 2a.m.) becca said something to the effect of - "look at us! what are we doing? we're staying overnight in sunway hotel and we're locked in our room watching tv!!! we should be having fun!!! cindy, come let's go get some kampai!!!" with a dimpled grin... quite unexpected of becca ;Þ so we decided to walk to 7-eleven (in our sleeping clothes @ pajamas)

so off we went, up the hotel elevator (we were on the -ve 10th floor; as nisha puts it), and through the lobby (where the hotel staff on duty looked at us suspiciously...). however when we got there, they only had lemon kampai (priced at rm9.90) which we didn't want... so we decided to try getting our drinks at one of the bars in pyramid... since ooi, nisha and cindy didn't want to go in (cause they were wearing shorts n t-shirt etc.), the task fell to me and becca (uh oh...i've never done this before...) and so we went to the music room at cafe flam (???1st and last time i'll ever go there!) and the place was so dark (with flashing lights....which confused me...), smokey and booming with techno (yukk!!!) ... becca had to yell our orders to the bar tender, who took quite a few moments to get our orders right... 2 blueberry kampais and 1 blackcurrant kampai... we paid up and scooted off (i think there was a drunk guy who was about to touch becca as she was slipping away... *the horror*) ... we met up with the other 3 at the walkway and discovered that we'd paid more than rm60 for our drinks (cause each kampai cost rm18 and there were taxes...) anyway, we felt kinda silly about that but decided to think of it as a "once in a lifetime experience... " hahahaha

so we slinked through the lobby again (the people there must've thought we were crazy alcoholic girls) and went down to our room. we shared the drinks between the 5 of us... my opinion: the sea-greenish blueish blueberry kampai tasted like the red/green cough mixture and the deep burgandy blackcurrant kampai smelled a little bit like butterscotch but tasted like ribena with cough mixture... and we supped on milky bites and m&m's (which we saw in the hotel room's fridge and immediately decided to get some from giant!) ... oh, and the best part... i drank the least kampai and i turned red!!! felt so hot but it eased my cough though... we mixed the drinks and obtained a somewhat clear solution and we tried to pass it off as water in our wacky silly photo session, but failed miserably as the drink looked dark brown (cause of the shadows of the night...) ... we had heart-to-heart conversations and chic flick talks... till around 4a.m. or 5a.m., when we decided we'd better sleep...

we'd set the alarm at 10a.m. and woke up promptly, took our baths, checked out and had breakfast at mcD. cindy had to go cny shopping and becca had to rush off to teach piano... so the 3 of us waited for my mum... we sat at 3 different locations while waiting... in front of topshop (where the salesguy must've thought we were watching their tv for free... which we were... malu...), in front of seed (where we saw a few couples wearing identical garments...) and in front of sinma (i think... can't remember clearly...) then we accompanied ooi to dave's deli for a quick bite (where we saw an ah beng kid wearing a pair of weird pants with a cord of canvas interconnecting both his legs behind his knees... whatever for???)

when my mum finally came to get us, we discovered that her car couldn't start, so a foreman was called (which later costed us more than rm200!!! for some started mechanism part and service charge...) and we passed our time walking around in pyramid... mum bought me 2 tops!!! and when everything was finished and we were ready to go, it was already quite late... my deep felt apologies to ooi and nisha for keeping you girls out so late!!! anyway all's well ends well... this was an interesting experience with the hyperactive-chatterboxers which i'll always remember!!! thanx girls!!!
